Elementary School Visits

I love visiting schools! A typical visit includes two assemblies, one for kindergarten to second grade, and another for third to fifth graders, and two creative workshops with third or fourth graders in the library or a classroom.

The assemblies include dramatic readings, drawing demonstrations, sing-alongs or other musical elements, and a Q&A.

The workshops are a fun way to approach storytelling through character creation. Paper, pencil, and crayons are all the students need.

I can send order forms for autographed books in advance of the visit. I can also send a printable page of bookmarks for all students to remember the visit.

If this program doesn’t match your needs, we can always rearrange things. This description is just an example.

I live in the Milwaukee area, but I’m happy to travel with enough notice ahead of time. My rate is $1200/day for up to 5 sessions, plus travel and lodging. If your school or event is within 100 miles of Milwaukee, lodging is not necessary. 3+ schools booking together get a special rate of $1000/visit.

Virtual School Visits

I love doing virtual visits too! It works better when the students have read my book(s) before the visit begins. Skype/Zoom/GoogleMeet/etc presentations also consist of dramatic readings, artistic demonstrations, Q&A, and sometimes sing-alongs. My rate for virtual visits is $100. Signed books can be ordered in advance for these events as well.

Book Stores, Libraries, Museums and Festivals

My presentations include dramatic readings, artistic demonstrations, discussions about creating books, and sometimes sing-alongs! If you are a bookseller, contact me for an event in your store or nearby. I can get myself most places in Wisconsin and northern Illinois for events like these.

Contact me on the Contact Page to arrange a visit. I can’t wait!

About me, Andy Rash

I’ve created books with fantastic publishers including Scholastic, Chronicle, Penguin, Bloomsbury, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. My editorial illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, Wired, The New Yorker, Entertainment Weekly, and many other national publications.

My low-res iotacons have adorned books, magazines, records, quilts, restaurant bathrooms, and even the side of an east London car park, courtesy of the street artist Space Invader.

Recently, I've been creating animations for Nickelodeon, Penguin, and other clients. Please look for my work in national exhibitions including American Illustration, Communication Arts, and The Society of Illustrators.

I am an Associate Professor of Illustration at The Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, where I teach several classes in illustration as well as a very popular picture book illustration elective.
